Banish the bloat: How to get a flat tummy fast

Summer is around the corner. Are you in swimwear shape?

No? Then it’s action time. And the great news is that there are a few things that will have a near instant impact.

Many of my clients suffer from a bloated fat stomach and dread the thought of skimpy clothes – if you’re one of them try these trusted professional tips:

Avoid refined carbohydrates for a slimmer tum

Cut out refined carbohydrates as these lead to water retention and bloating. If you want to make a difference fast then avoid rice, white bread, pasta and potatoes completely.

Prove it to yourself: measure your waist and hips and jump on the scales tomorrow morning. Do the same in two weeks time and admire the difference.

Bodybuilders use carbs to sculpt their physique

Competitive bodybuilders’ weight fluctuates by 2- 3 stone over a 12 month period depending upon where they are in their competition prep cycle – it’s known as ‘bulking’ and ‘cutting’. The difference in weight reflects the amount of body fat they are carrying (between 25% and 5% body fat) and is mainly down to carbohydrate intake. They increase carb intake to bulk up in size and reduce carbohydrate consumption when they want to trim down and reveal a sculptured physique.

What else can you do?

Eat your way to looking trimmer

Here are 3 tips I give my Body Changer Programme clients:

  1. You’ve heard me say this before, but it’s so important. Eat every 3 hours (for example: 7am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm, 7pm).
  2. Remember all portions must fit onto a side plate and make sure protein makes up 70% of your meal.
  3. And lastly… never ever eat to the point where you are full.

The right fluids for a flatter stomach

It’s obvious when you think about it, but carbonated drinks are a very common cause of bloating. This includes sparkling water – not just fizzy sugary drinks – as they all contain high amounts of the gas carbon dioxide. As you drink them you also swallow large amounts of this gas.

Replace fizzy drinks with plain water and aim to drink 2 litres of water per day. Not only will this help reduce bloating, it’ll also keep your skin hydrated and radiant.

Reduce alcohol to reduce bloating

Stop drinking in the week. I know it’s hard, but anything worthwhile normally is!

Snack-attack

It’s late, you’re watching TV and you’ve a sudden irresistible urge for something sweet…

Instead, choose:

  • a teaspoon of peanut or almond butter with a sliced apple
  • a low sugar protein bar
  • a handful of lentil crisps.

In other words, choose the long game… not short term pleasure.

Fat freezing for stubborn fat

Have you thought about a fat loss treatment? LipoGlaze Cryotherapy (fat freezing) is safe and effective having been pioneered at the Harvard Medical School, is FDA approved and highly regarded within the industry.

It is proving increasingly popular, particularly for those looking for a non-invasive alternative to Liposuction or a highly effective way to help their weight loss. The treatment can target fat cells in body areas which can be stubborn to reduce with diet and exercise: stomach, love handles, inner/ outer thighs, buttocks and bingo wings on arms.
