Everything you need to know about Rosacea and rosacea treatment

Rosacea is a common pink/red rash of the skin which usually occurs on the central part of the face (nose, cheeks, chin and forehead).

The cause of Rosacea is not fully understood but many believe that the blood vessels in the skin (of the face) dilate too easily.

It is more common in women, those who are fair skin and those who flush easily.

The condition starts with extreme redness when blushing but can lead to the redness turning into a darker shade and staying there all the time. This can then be combined with pus spots and paples (small red bumps) and the appearance of telangiectasia (small dilated blood vessels).

The nose can also grow big, red and bulbous. This is due to an overgrowth of sebaceous glands. The face can also swell with this condition.

Yes, and the best time to catch Rosacea is when it’s in the early stages, however effective treatments can take place when Rosacea is in the later stages too. In the later stages of a course of treatments is recommended for best results.

Rosacea and Pigmentation Treatments with Dermalux® LED Light Therapy

At Clinic33, we understand the challenges of managing rosacea and pigmentation issues, which is why we offer advanced treatments using Dermalux® LED light therapy. This innovative approach harnesses the power of light to target specific skin concerns, providing safe and effective solutions for rosacea and pigmentation.

How Dermalux® LED Light Therapy Works

Dermalux® LED light therapy is a non-invasive treatment that utilises different wavelengths of light to stimulate cellular activity and promote skin rejuvenation. The targeted wavelengths penetrate deep into the skin, where they stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, reduce inflammation, and regulate pigment production.

For individuals dealing with Rosacea, Dermalux® LED light therapy can help reduce redness and inflammation, calm sensitive skin, and improve overall skin tone and texture. Similarly, for those with pigmentation concerns, the treatment can target excess melanin production, leading to a more even complexion and a brighter, more radiant appearance.

Best Rosacea Treatment & Rosacea Cream

Combining chemical peels with a treatment called ‘Thermavein’ has been proven to be one of the most effective ways to eliminate Rosacea.

A chemical peel is a controlled trauma to the skin resulting in newly regenerated skin cells leaving a smooth, younger, blemish free, even toned looking skin. The peels used for rosacea are gentler for sensitive skin types which are prone to thread veins, redness and inflammation. The peel moisturises the epidermis, improves skins firmness and elasticity, soothes irritation and reduces redness of the skin.

ThermaVein is specifically designed to remove thread veins which quite often occur with rosacea. The permanent removal of these thread veins combined with Medik8 chemical peels and aftercare is extremely effective and quite possibly the most productive solution.

Treatment FAQ’s

What do the different lights do?2020-11-20T13:29:05+00:00

There are 3 different LED lights with Dermalux, below is their individual and collective purpose:

Red and Infrared:

These lights are used for treating the epidermis which is the outer layer of the skin. When light is applied to the skin the epidermis absorbs the light and then goes on to stimulate collagen proteins. More collagen within the skin means that the skin will look fuller and overall more youthful. This means that the red light will reduce the appearence of fine lines and wrinkles. It is also used to reduce inflammation while improving circulation and this means the skin will glow and look overall a lot healthier.

Blue light:

The blue LED targets the sebaceous glands which are located beneath the hair follicle. Sebaceous glands are important as they produce oil to support our skin and to stop skin drying out. However, when these glands become overactive the by product is oily skin and acne. Blue light can help treat even severe acne including cysts and nodules.

Often the red, blue and near infrared lights are used in conjunction with one another in different combinations and amounts to resolve the skin conditions.

What is a Dermalux® treatment?2023-10-20T12:40:31+01:00

Dermalux is a multi-award winning, non-invasive LED phototherapy treatment that harnesses the power of light to treat a variety of skin concerns.

What are the benefits of Dermalux®?2023-10-20T12:40:21+01:00

Dermalux is a unique treatment in that the benefits it can provide are not seen in any other device in the aesthetics industry. Non-invasive skin rejuvenation is growing with popularity in place of the more invasive cosmetic procedures, and with technology developing at a faster rate than ever, we now have the new TRI-Wave MD. This treatment is medically certified to resolve concerns such as: Acne, Rosacea, Pigmentation, Psoriasis, Eczema, Wound healing, Post-treatment healing, S.A.D. (Seasonal affective disorder) and ageing.

How does Dermalux® work?2023-10-20T12:40:11+01:00

As a result of ageing, problem skin conditions or trauma, healthy cells are compromised and unable to renew themselves normally. Our skin has the ability to absorb certain wavelengths of light and use it as a source of energy to activate specific cellular processes to produce a therapeutic effect. It is a natural biochemical reaction similar to that of plant photo-synthesis.

Dermalux LED Phototherapy uses clinically proven wavelengths to recharge these cells energising them to heal quicker and rejuvenate faster, promoting healing from the inside out.

The increased energy enhances cellular metabolism which in turn builds collagen, increases elasticity, boosts circulation, accelerates tissue repair or kills bacteria. Laboratory studies have shown that skin cells can regenerate themselves from 250 to 300 per cent faster when exposed to certain LED wavelengths, with hydration being increased by up to 600%. This whole process results in radiant, youthful, and naturally healthy skin.

What skin concerns can Dermalux® treat?2023-10-20T12:39:59+01:00

It’s important to note here (as mentioned above) that with the new Dermalux Tri-Wave MD we’ve entered into a new phase of technological advancement when it comes to LED light therapy. This machine is CE (medically certified) to treat Acne, Acne scarring, Rosacea, Pigmentation, Psoriasis and Eczema with excellent efficiency. Benefits are noticeable from the first treatment and anywhere on the body can be treated, not just the face.

Is Dermalux® safe for all skin types?2023-10-20T12:39:49+01:00

Being non-invasive and free from chemicals or solutions, Dermalux LED light therapy is safe for all skin types.

Are there any side effects or risks associated with Dermalux®?2023-10-20T12:39:40+01:00

Dermalux is for the most part a risk-free treatment with no known side effects. However, there are some contraindications such as pregnancy, photosensitivity etc… that will be discussed in the consultation.

How many Dermalux® sessions are typically required to see results?2023-10-20T12:39:17+01:00

We’ve being providing Dermalux treatments for quite some time now, since 2015 to be precise, and in this time we’ve for the most part, sold it in blocks of 6 or 12 sessions. Now, with the arrival of the new Tri-Wave MD and with it being 5 x times more powerful, releasing more light energy and being ‘medically certified’ this does change things. At the time of writing this (Autumn 2023) we’ve had this new machine for a month and we’ve found that 4 sessions is often adequate for many people. As always though, a consultation with one of our skin consultants will be the best way to ascertain the right amount of sessions needed.

What is the duration of a Dermalux® treatment session?2023-10-20T12:38:46+01:00

Every Dermalux treatment session is preset to 20 minutes long.

Is Dermalux® suitable for treating acne or acne scars?2023-10-20T12:39:05+01:00

This is where the new Dermalux Tri-Wave MD comes into its own, we could say this with relative certainty that no other device or procedure currently available, can treat Acne as effectively as this. When it comes to Acne Scarring, a combination of Nano Pore Micro-needling and Dermalux will be the best solution.

How long do the results of Dermalux® therapy last?2023-10-20T12:38:54+01:00

This depends on many factors, the skin condition or concern that the client had or has, the overall health of the individual and someone’s age. Overall though, the Dermalux® Tri-Wave MD offers the resolution to concerns, as long as an ongoing maintenance treatment plan is put in place (such as good product homecare). We would recommend a monthly maintenance session is carried out for optimum results and overall skin health.
